C.R.A.P.: Creative Recycled Art Projects

March 9, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Lasher Gallery and Zech Hall, Langley  —

C.R.A.P.’s third annual show features the work of several Whidbey artists who use recycled and found objects in new ways. Leftovers from their carpentry, textile, glass, jewelry, metal, print and other art projects combine with unusual materials to create fun and stimulating pieces of art. This year’s show and sale includes a mixture of pieces by Buffy Cribbs, Althea Holden, Katrina Hude, Janet Lewis, Alicia Lomné, Liesel Lund, Natalie Olsen, Janet Pheifer, Sarah Primrose, Sara Saltee, and Judith Van Arnam. A portion of their sales will benefit WICA.

Janet Pheifer explains, “The CRAP Show is a creatively fun exhibition of works made with non-traditional materials. For myself, being a lifelong recycler, I control my hoarding tendencies by creating art. Also, I like creating the odd piece of art that gets folks laughing. All the women in this show are amazing and inspiring in their use of materials. Our artwork is contemplative, fun, inspiring and educational. Look closely and you may see, within a piece, something you tossed in the trash.”
